Spaß muss sein..

Danke, Sascha!

Am vergangenen Wochenende fanden die jährlichen Chemnitzer Linux-Tage an der Technischen Universität Chemnitz statt. Schon zum dritten Mal waren wir mit der BlinkenArea an Bord und rückten trotz des starken Schneefalls mit vielen blinkenden Projekten und ausreichend Deko-Ausstattung an. TroiCade, ARCADEmaxi und der TROIA Prototyp waren wieder an ihren gwohnten Plätzen im Hörsaalgebäude zu finden, während LittleLights in diesem Jahr bei uns am Stand untergebracht war. Dieser lag übrigens direkt an der Flucht zwischen Eingang und Treppe und war damit der bestgelegenste, den wir jemals hatten. Gemeinsam mit dem POC, das in diesem Jahr zum ersten Mal für die Ausstattung der Organistoren und Teilnehmer mit DECT sorgte, ist es uns gelungen, unseren Stand zu einem echten Blickfang zu machen. Viele Besucher kamen oft sogar mehrfach vorbei, schauten sich alles an, stellten Fragen, kamen mit uns ins Gespräch, nahmen Bausätze mit oder spielten via DECT auf LittleLights. Unser Dank gilt den Organisatoren, die uns nicht nur den wunderbaren Standort zugeteilt haben, sondern auch wieder für einen reibungslosen Ablauf und phantastische Verpflegung gesorgt haben, so dass der Wohlfühlfaktor wieder weit oben lag. Wir freuen uns auf 2011!

During What The Hack!, the BlinkenArea was encircled by construction lights. They were blinking all in a tumble, because they were not phased so far. Since HAR, the construction lights are operated by full flashlight support. The Chaos Construction Light Controller 32 (CCLC32) provides 32 outputs, which can be connected to construction lights, when those are rebuilt in a certain way. A serial interface can receive CCLC32 data from BlinkenOutput. Furthermore, a running light-function is integrated as well.

The amazing documentation video of project bluebox is finally available on the internet!

We had to keep it from the public until now, because music was employed, that can only be used against payment of a fee to the performing rights society (GEMA), when the movie is supposed to be publicly available. Now, ST set the movie to music again with music free of GEMA charges. Enjoy it!

Yesterday afternoon, we had our presentation about the BlinkenArea and our flashlight projects. Unfortunately, the tent was not full to capacity, because the weather was very well for the first time. Nevertheless, we got a lot of positive feedback and we would like to thank those, who joined the presentation. Some of you asked for more technical details after it. Apparently, we should hold two different presentations during one event to get you all satisfied.

During the last two days, we continued to build up more BlinkenArea projects. Yesterday, the construction lights were arranged and got wired today. We also set up the Glider and improved it by coating the roof battens with black paint (Thanks to PoC Sascha, who origanised the paint and to the guys, who borrowed it). TroiCade is now operating at HARcade, a village about computer games. Furthermore, the IT infrastructure has been installed and the tent has been cleaned up already. Today, we will ad some information about the projects. Thus, we nearly completed the BlinkenArea village so far. Unfortunately, the weather is cloudy and rainy most of the time.

In August, the international technology and security conference Hacking at Random takes place in the Netherlands. We are going to join the event

• to welcome everybody to BlinkenArea Village,
• to showcase a lot of BlinkenArea Projects,
• to invite people to enter BlinkenArea Movie Contest and
• to introduce the BlinkenArea on Thursday, 13th.

In diesem Jahr gab es bei den Chemnitzer Linux-Tagen einen MovieContest für das Projekt TroiCade im Format 32×24 (Breite x Höhe). Die Mitglieder der Linux-Tage-Orga waren dazu aufgerufen, die besten Filme zu wählen. Insgesamt wurden sieben Filme eingereicht, die das ganze Wochenende auf TroiCade zu sehen waren und die Ihr auch bei YouTube bereits bewundern könnt.

Die Preisträger des Wettbewerbs sind Efelon mit dem Film “Bees” (Platz 1), LeSpocky mit dem Film “dig rain” (Platz 2) und Martin mit dem Film “dots rays” (Platz 3). LeSpocky hat seinen Preis, ein CLT-Schlüsselband und ein CLT-Basecap bereits an unserem Stand von ST in Empfang genommen. Der erste Preis ist ein Buchgutschein über 25 Euro, den die Universitätsbuchhandlung Universitas freundlicherweise zur Verfügung gestellt hat – vielen Dank. Der dritte Platz wird ebenfalls mit einem Schlüsselband prämiert. Alle Merchandising-Artikel wurden von der CLT-Orga gestellt – vielen Dank auch hierfür.

Dank der großartigen Planung und Hilfe haben wir es geschafft. TroiCade, LittleLights, ArcadeMaxi und der TroiaPrototyp blinken. Vielen Dank an die Helfer, ohne die wir das so schnell nicht geschafft hätten. Und weil alles so gut funktioniert hat, hatten wir noch Zeit, unseren Stand erneut zum schönsten Stand zu pimpen.
